NEWS

2.20.07 The new Meathaus anthology entitled SOS is available for pre-order here. Also, I've posted every strip I did for the Philadelphia Weekly on this site here.

9.15.07 As you can see I've changed some colors and added a little animation on the opening page. Yeah I got a little bored one day. I really want to attempt a short animation. maybe three minutes black and white. In other news I will be in an all comic art exibit at the Padlock Gallery: 1409 Ellsworth st Phila on October 6th. It's part of the 215 Festival (for the literary arts).

5.11.07 Woah, haven't updated in a while. Why would i when I have a sweet myspace page to update instead? right? Well anyway here's what I've been up to: 1. I have an 8 page story in the upcoming meathaus anthology. 2. I have a couple little stories in an Italian anthology called Canicola. 3. I'll be contributing to Hawk Krall's anthology Prize this summer. 4. I am working hard on the last 40 pages of my graphic novel, which I've been simultaneously re-writing for the past year. And hey, if anyone wants contributions from me please feel free to ask.

4.28.06 Looks like I'll be doing a strip indefinately for the Philly Weekly. As long as I can keep up the quality. In the meantime it's cutting into my ability to get my graphic novel done. Production has slowed down to a crawl. I pick up my brush and do about three panels, then give up for the day. That's how it's been. I'm just being honest.

3.7.06 For the last 4 weeks I have been doing a limited strip for the Philadelphia Weekly. Tomorrow my last one comes out. However the A&E editor is trying to keep me on as a regular. I guess I'll find out in the next few days. For those of you who live out of town, I've been posting the strips on my Myspace Blog.

1.16.06 I believe the 2nd issue of my comic should be in stores within a week or so. I just got a few boxes of them myself. I am busy working on a graphic novel at the moment. It should be pretty much like the comic, except 120 pages instead of 24. I've completed 67. Also I'm quickly preparing for an art show at the Seraphin Gallery next week. That's it for now!

11.1.05 Few! My comic should be hitting select shelves around the country in the next few days. If you happen to be in a town that doesn't carry it, you can order it through me (via paypal). I'm gathering things to print the 2nd issue currently.

9.10.05 My comic is listed in the latest Previews Magazine. That means it should be in stores in November. This shit takes a long time.

7.2.05 Robert Randle at Diamond is a prince. So I've secured distro through them. I did some calculations after the %60 discount they get. At the price I'm selling these at, I will be making negative money. Even if I raised the price to $2.95, I'd only be making 20 cents and issue approximately. That means I'm going to have to lower the printing costs, which means slightly cheaper paper I guess, for the next issue.

6.22.05 Things are looking mighty dubious. I'm trying to get Last Gasp Distro. Diamond is on the fence about my weird shit apparently. They're going to consult a retailer submissions board. That could push my distro back a bit. Which sucks.Might possibly try selling direct to retailers.

6.14.05 everything's good to go. waiting on distro from diamond.

5.9.05 I don't know if anyone is reading this but here's what's going on. I still haven't set up a paypal account for "Future Me" but I will I swear. In the meantime you can buy it at Bodega. Also, I'm waiting on ISBN numbers before I get the BFM #1 printed up. I'm trying to finish issue #3 before May 20th so I can try to establish distro with Diamond Distribution.

4.7.05 I got the Xeric grant. I will be sending the comic off to the presses shortly.

4.4.05 I have a group art show in May at the Diane Ashley Gallery (718 N. Third St. second floor)

3.23.05 Still wating on grant news. I'm setting up a screen printing facility in my house as we speak, to do the covers for my mini-comic. That should be ready in the next two days. Also I contributed to an anthology called PRIZE that is out now. I think you can get it here.

1.22.05 sent out an application for the Xeric grant yesterday, to fund the printing of the BFM. If that doesn't happen, perhaps I'll do a medical test to put it out. In the meantime, I'm working on a mini-comic, using material that was intended for a later issue of BFM, but I decided it could stand on its own. That should be done in the next two weeks. I'll be finding out the results of the Xeric grant in March.

2/6/05 I should be getting a response from the Xeric Foundation on March 5th about giving me some money to put out my comics. also, I have a new website specifically for my publishing projects : www.nonlocalbooks.com hopefully all this works out. in the meantime I've finished a 36 page mini-comic that Bodega Distribution may be circulating for me. Still have to screen print the covers.

10/20/04 Well who the hell knows what's going on. I don't. Things are happening. Most of the time they end up meaning nothing. But all the same, things seem to be happening, like a man on a disk atop a pyramid. Leaning. leaning one way, leaning, leaning the other way.

9.20.04 I'm no longer calling myself Hiroshima Lemon. There are a lot of reasons for the change. Too much confusion and hassle mostly.

9.17.04 my hand has been forced and I now plan on self publishing my 2nd attempt at a graphic novel. It will be called the Backwards Folding Mirror. It will be about 96 pages and once my new room is set up, I will be on a work horse schedule to have it done in 2 months. That's it.

8-26-04 So my comic for Prize got stolen by Hawk's landlord or neighbor or who knows. So maybe I can draw him something else. In other news, I scratched some lady's bumper and now I'm out $558. I sold my Arriflex synch sound camera on Ebay to get money to pay for it. I owe money to lots of people. If anyone out there wants to commission me for a mural or something please let me know. I will also consider dry-hump for pay.

08-21-04 Hawk's anthology is titled "PRIZE". I'm giving him a five pager today. Backwards Folding Mirror is sitting in limbo. Maybe I'll self publish that shit. That makes me depressed.

08-09-04 I've completed the first issue of what I believe I will be calling The Backwards Folding Mirror. Of course, it's subject to change. Pitching it to publishers as we speak.

07-21-04

Darshana's comic anthology should be coming out soon. It's called "Addicted to Metropolis". Also, my friend Hawk will be printing an anthology soon as well that I will be contributing to. More news on that later. My own comic is nearing completion. And I will be having a split art show with my brother at Big Jar Books (on 2nd street) in September. I haven't had my computer for a week, so I haven't been able to post new art. I will try to post the rest of my abandoned comic in the next few days or so.

06-07-04

Okay, well, bad news. My contribution to Blood Orange has been axed or postponed until further notice due to some editorial decisions regarding length. So no Blood Orange for me. Man. So close. I don't know who reads this or cares but I am still working on that comic. It's the best thing I've ever done in my life. I think I've really found myself this year for some reason and I don't see it stopping or running out. So that's good. And I will be contributing to another anothology that is being put out by my new friend Darshana. Okay. Well. I promise to get more art up on this site with a quickness. later

05-29-04

Just got back from Spain. Well, next month my contribution to a comic anthology called Blood Orange (#2) comes out on Fantagraphics Books. I am busy working on my comic which I still have no name for. So far I think it's the best work I've done. Uh, besides that, I had a showing at the Padlock Gallery down in south Philly. But I think it's over now. Also, I will be showing some new paintings at Big Jar Books in September. But that's a long way off. Anyway, maybe I should work on making all the links fully functional. Okay. Later

04-18-04

I was featured in an article about young artists and such in the Philadelphia Weekly. Thanks Eric Bader. If you want to read it here's the link (i'm holding a retarded chinese mask under my arm)

So, like a true flake I've given up on my graphic novel. With every page it seemed like I was getting further and further away from finishing it. But I've started on a 24 page issue. Much easier to tackle and I feel like the writing and art is much better. I haven't named it yet. I find the process of naming very difficult. Perhaps I'll post some pages from the abandoned project, so some people can see it.

01-17-04

I will be one of many artists featured at the North Star Bar on 27th + Poplar. February 8th - March 8th, 8pm-2am. I'll be featuring wood paintings, zines, comics and other stuff maybe.

I've been informed that I will be appearing in the 2004 July issue of "Blood Orange". It's a comic book anthology that will be published by Fantagraphics Books in June. That's a while from now. But it's pretty exciting.

08-14-03

currently working on a 140+ page comic based loosely on events that have transpired in the last 5 or so years of my life - regarding ex-girlfriends, ex-friends, dreams, opinions, and a bunch of fictional ideas thrown in. I'll post a couple pages from it when it gets a little further along. Still have to re-write the ending - you know, so that it's good.

still doing a strip for the Philadelphia Independent. New strip should be coming out in September.
